Be
Yourself
What does it really mean to be you?
Be yourself. It's such an equivocal saying. Everyone keeps saying this statement. What does it really mean to be yourself?
Be yourself. It's such an equivocal saying. Everyone keeps saying this statement. What does it really mean to be yourself?
JUNE is a special month for me since it’s my
birthday month. I always like to focus on my strengths and achievements so far,
recognizing and realizing how far I have come and the much ahead of me to achieve,
experience or even concur, I guess everybody does this, right?
I think it’s always amazing to find yourself and define yourself on your terms. Oscar Wilde once said {Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.} As amusing as this might seem, it's a basic synopsis of the truth. To be yourself you have to know, understand, and accept yourself first. I bet this should be everyone’s primary goal. Find time to learn what you value, things you like to do or not.Contemplate your life and choices and take time to consider what makes up the essence of who you are. Being fearless and not shying away from trial and error and in the end ensuring that defining you is based on your own terms and is something you feel absolutely comfortable with.
Well here are four pointers that keep me motivated to become a better me.
Get uncomfortable by trying new things and meeting new people. Growth doesn’t happen by staying in your fizz of security where everything is familiar. Challenge yourself to do something that is slightly terrifying, yet refreshing. Is the space where you are stretching yourself just enough to continue to grow and evolve ?
AVOID GRIPPING ON THE PAST INSTEAD LET YOURSELF GROW.
It’s
a good thing when you allow yourself space to grow, improve and become
wiser. One of the most unhealthy approaches to being oneself is to make a
decision that who you are is defined by a moment or period of time,
after which you spend the rest of your life trying to be that person
from the past rather than someone who grows with the passing of each
season and decade. Allow yourself to forgive past errors and past behavior you're not so proud of, working on accepting mistakes and choices you've made in the past too. You had your reasons for making those decisions, they made sense at the time, so instead of harnessing yourself to past mistakes, allow yourself to learn their lessons and continue to grow. Take pleasure when taking on new ideas, learning from others, or growing. Growth into every new age and stage of our lives is an essential part of being true to ourselves, to being emotionally healthy and whole.
KEEP LOOKING FOR YOUR OWN STRENGTHS.
Need I say more, you are the best version of yourself .
Over time, strengths and personality may change and consequently, so may your definition of yourself, but never let up in focusing and refocusing on them. You strengths adequately balance out your flaws and hence the principal reason for not comparing yourself to others. Comparison leads to resentment. A person filled with resentment cannot focus on the chant of "be yourself" because they are too busy hankering after someone else.
RELAX AND STOP WORRYING
Relax and stop worrying about the worst that could
happen, instead how about imagining the best that could happen on the same
scenario.Worrying is a useless way to keep you busy, drained and worried but achieves nothing. Learn to laugh at yourself, your jokes your silly mistakes both when
it happens and afterwards. It’s an attractive quality for someone to be able to
laugh at themselves and not take themselves too seriously. If people make mean
or insensitive judgments, don't take it personally. That's their loss, not
yours.Hope you love and get inspired by this post.
See you on the next one.
