Travel to lake Magadi with me/Flamingo Paradise/Kenya
Hello beautiful people, hope you are doing well.Today I'm taking you with me to Magadi.
I love travelling to places that make me gaze at the
wonderful creation. If you are in Nairobi or its environs and wish to go for a one-day
trip, then you should check out Magadi. Its relatively 125Kms from Nairobi central
business and 87 Kms from Kiserian Town. The road is nicely tarmacked although a
bit narrow on some stretches but okay since there are few cars going through
this road from Kiserian town. You are definitely going to love the terrain and
the beautiful views as you maneuver towards Magadi. This place can also be
accessed through air and rail. The weather in Magadi is hot and dry so you need
to dress appropriately as well as have enough drinking water to keep you
hydrated during your trip.
One of the fun facts about Magadi town is that it’s
one of the cleanest towns in Kenya and it’s also the home to the largest soda
ash producer in Africa TATA chemicals Ltd. Soda ash among its many uses is used
in pulp and paper industries, glass manufacturing, soap and detergents among
others.
A big addition to the fun in watching thousands of
flamingos and pelicans is experiencing the medicinal natural hot springs at the
lake. The natural springs to the south of the lake provides a unique attraction
to many travelers. The springs bubble at around 35 degrees Celsius and normally
provide a nice spot to relax and bath as it is believed to have healing
properties to the skin. You will also find many Maasai Women dressed colorfully
and selling artistries by the hot springs. The northern part of the lake has
more springs and it’s also good to note that these springs are different as
they boil at around 90 degrees Celsius which makes them a perfect sport for
visitors to enjoy steam bath and site seeing as well.
Magadi is definitely a great place to visit and experience a bit of wildlife including, giraffes, zebras, ostriches, wildebeests, Hyenas, among others. In addition, to camping and team building activities one can enjoy a swimming pool at the sports club, fitness center, drinks and meals which are pretty much affordable. As compared to other towns in Kenya this town has a small population, so you will also enjoy some quiet.
If you wish to get to the hot springs you need a trained guide for about 10 USD to direct you along the excursions as well as a resident’s fee of about 5 USD and 10 USD for Non Residents. My overall experience driving to Lake Magadi was beautiful and I would totally recommend this place if you love such experiences.
